Recommendations

Drink plenty of fluids. It is necessary, at the first sign of infection, take at least a glass of eight ounces of water every hour. Thereby clean the bladder and expelled the bacteria that could be causing cystitis.

Do not wait too long if you feel the need to urinate. The bladder is weakened by having to be extended to increase capacity and make room for the excess urine. Because this weakening, the bladder is not strong enough to expel the urine causing germs and bacteria are in the urinary system.

Applying heat is advisable to apply a warm compress to relieve pain in the lower abdomen.

Take a sitz bath. If you have a lot of burning, a hot bath seat can reduce pain. However, pregnant women should not take this type of bathroom for long periods as it may cause birth defects or spontaneous abortions.

Maintain hygiene before intercourse. Ask your partner to wash their intimate areas. Also recommended the use of condoms in the case of men who have multiple sex partners.

Use cotton underwear. We recommend using cotton underwear. For women, half lined with cotton panties and loose clothing lets you breathe to the genital region, and also keep you dry. For men, the boxer shorts are preferable to tight.

Avoid alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is an irritant to the urinary tract. Therefore, it should be avoided during a bladder infection.

Change the method of birth control. The use of the diaphragm can compress the bladder neck and hurt, causes inflammation that hinders the passage of urine. Similarly, spermicidal foams and jellies cause unrest in the defensive mechanisms of the vagina allowing bacteria to survive and pass to the bladder. For that reason, we recommend changing these birth control methods.

Keep a diary of your bladder infections. It is advisable that a person suffering from recurrent bladder infections, keep a journal to identify patterns that precede an attack. This way you can find out if their infections are related to sexual contact or other factors to make changes.
